Free Comic Book Day & Comics Giveaway Day 2026

May 02, 2026

Today is Free Comic Book Day, and at CLZ we’re ready for it! And as if that wasn’t enough, this year also includes Comics Giveaway Day — a nice little bonus for comic fans everywhere.
Looks like it’s a good time to pick up something new (or a few extra things).

Our comic content team has worked hard to ensure that all the free 2026 comics are available in our Core online comic database, so you can easily add them to your collection.

CLZ Alwin here, with the CLZ Newsletter for April 2026.

This month, one big and powerful update for all 5 Web editions: the ability to easily filter your collection by clicking hyperlinks in your item details panel. E.g. click a Genre name and instantly find all your collectibles in that genre.
And judging from early feedback, you all are absolutely loving it! 🙂 (some feedback examples below).

One other release this month: a small “customizability” update for the CLZ Games mobile app, you can now add your own YouTube trailer links!
Plus a CLZ Core for Comics improvement related to Vampirella comics, requiring a simple Update from Core action. Instructions below.

Also, some nice “mentions” online this month, for both CLZ Movies and CLZ Games, which has caused a huge flow of new sign ups, nice! Read about them below.

What about future releases? What is cooking, what is coming up soon (or later)?
The main things the CLZ team is working on at the moment are the “Add more images” feature for Web (ETA next week!!) and the Custom Fields for the mobile apps (ETA: within 2 months?). But we have some other “secret” projects too, will tell you more about those later.

The newsletter topics today:

  • CLZ Web: Easily filter your collection by clicking hyperlinks
  • CLZ Games mobile app: Add your own YouTube trailer links
  • For collectors of Vampirella comics: Core Update required!
  • Tracy Letts mentions CLZ Movies on the Blank Check podcast!
  • Metal Jesus Rocks uses CLZ Games while shopping!
  • What’s cooking?
    • CLZ Web: Add more images to your entries (next to front and back)
    • CLZ mobile apps: Create (and Sync!!) your own Custom Fields

A somewhat smaller week of the new comic releases. Few solid #1’s out this week by multiple publishers. With a good bunch of exclusives for Zatanna #1. FCBD & CGD around the corner, make sure you visit your LCS on May 2nd! Here are a few books that were handpicked by our content managers:

The Punisher #3D. Punisher making an end to Jigsaw once more. Written by Benjamin Percy and art by José Luis Soares Pinto, Jonas Trindade, Oren Junior and Frank D’Armata. With the Gerardo Sandoval variant being the one I will be picking up this week.

Hellboy in Love: Black Eyes #1. A cozy visit with retired B.P.R.D agents Archie and Margaret takes a chilly turn when Hellboy and Anastasia investigate the local ghost. Surely nothing will go wrong here right?

Generation X-23 #3C. Laura taken out by the new X-numbers! Can Scout (Gabby) find the allies needed to stop the death and destruction?! Find out with me this week! Definitely seems intriguing by the looks of it but this was a total cover buy pre-order :).

All comics releasing this week can be found in the NCBD tab in your add comics screen. All new releases have been carefully cleaned up, with lots of info added! Be sure to check them out in the app. Either when you hit your comic shop or, when back home adding your stack you’ve just come home with!

Happy reading!

v10.8.4: A couple of bug fixes

Apr 28, 2026

Fixed:

  • Further tweaks to the down-syncing from CLZ Cloud
  • Add, Edit and Action buttons could sometimes not be used if images were still downloading in the background

Here’s one suggested by one of our users: “why can’t we just click on a genre in the album details and then see all albums in that genre?”

That definitely makes sense, and it makes sense for a lot more fields too! So today we’re releasing a new feature which makes it much easier to move through your collection straight from the details panel: Browsing and deepdiving into your collection just became a lot more fun!

While viewing an album, you can now click on many of the fields in the details panel to instantly find all albums in your database that match that same artist, composer, genre, label, and more.

NCBD! Big comic week! No surprise to seeing this issue being the most populair title this week: Marvel and DC are teaming up with their Spider-Man / Superman crossover. Image is releasing 3 new #1’s. Here are a few books that were handpicked by our content managers:

Head Lopper #1 New volume, new heads that need to be rolling. Witness Andrew Maclean’s masterclass in kinetic action and dark humor. Looking forward to seeing what Andrew has in store for us with Norgal in 80 pages of comic-goodness.

Marvel / DC: Spider-Man / Superman #1. This has to be THE biggest crossover we’ve had in ages. Continuation from Superman / Spider-Man, has you exploring this crossover with multiple different characters across both publishers. Tons of covers, with the Peach Momoko being the most notable for me. Which cover or covers are you getting?

All comics releasing this week can be found in the NCBD tab in your add comics screen. All new releases have been carefully cleaned up, with lots of info added! Another week, another NCBD. It’s no surprise here, that Absolute Batman #19 is the biggest book this week (as can be seen in our Most Wanted on Monday). No less than 54 different covers for this issue! Absolute craziness? Our content managers might even have to be send to Arkham Asylum after adding this many into Core. Don’t think we’re done yet. Image releasing their new series: Fireborn. A bit of a smaller week for Marvel… Here are a few books that were handpicked by our content managers:

Radiant Black #41 Are you caught up with this series? I sure am! Horizon is Chicago’s hero. Radiant Black needs Shift’s help to sneak into a lab that’s withholding secrets. Will they succeed?

Absolute Batman #19. This issue brings us the introduction of Slade Wilson, Scarecrow and the Robins within the Absolute universe. This should definitely be a solid after we know what were getting next issue.

Cheers, mate! After a bit of waiting, we’re back with a new issue of Redcoat #17. This should be a nice set up for what’s to come. I’m especially fond the Kyle Hotz cover!

v10.8.2: Bugfixes

Apr 13, 2026

Fixed:

  • Keyboard would sometimes disappear after typing one letter in the search box above the series folders
  • A crash when tapping a comic in the [NONE] folder
  • The “downloading images” bar would sometimes show even if no images were downloading
  • Comic details could sometimes fall under the bottom bar

Fixed:

  • Converting/Optimizing Database process was slow/crashing for some users. We have now fixed this and made the database conversion much faster
  • Sync with CLZ Cloud: The progress bar for images didn’t count the images that had to be downloaded correctly
