CLZ Movies 9 Feature Hilite: new format icons / tap actor name to find all his movies
This is the fourth and final CLZ Movies 9 Feature Hilite email. In this one, I will go over 2 of the smaller improvements of version 9: the added format icon for digital and streaming format and the new ability to tap on actor name in the movie details to instantly see all movies that actor appeared in.
BTW: if you missed the earlier three v9 feature hilite emails, you can still read them on the CLZ Club forum here:
CLZ Movies 9 Feature Hilite: better screens for reporting “unrecognized barcodes”
Here it is, the 3rd “CLZ Movies v9 feature hilite” email. Today’s email is about the improvement to the screens for dealing with “unrecognized barcodes”.

Here’s my second “v9 feature hilite” email, about the next big feature of last week’s CLZ Movies v9 release.
(tip: if you missed feature hilite #1, you can read it here)
Today, we are going to discuss the new collections tab-bar.
Fixed:
- Tapping an actor could crash the app
Fixed:
- Tapping an actor to view all his/her movies could result in showing movies from someone else
- iPad: Tapping a result from the search box top right didn’t select the right movie
- Add screen:
- For TV Series and Box Sets, the “Add Sheet” wouldn’t always pull up high enough to show all data
- Add button wouldn’t always immediately work
- Cover from previous result would sometimes show in “Add Sheet”
Last week, we released version 9.0 of the CLZ Movies mobile app, our biggest update ever! So big in fact, that you may not have checked out all the new features yet.
To help you get started with all the new stuff, I am going to do four “v9 feature hilite” emails, each one highlighting one of the four big features of this update.
This is Feature Hilite #1 and today, we’re gonna take a look at all the improvements to the Add Movies by Title feature.
Fixed:
- The app would crash on startup for some users
Today is New Comic Book Day, so here is our weekly overview of new issues and new series. Including one new series that starts off with 69 variants (!!!) for issue one!
In total, today brings 422 new releases for only 163 actual unique issues. You can find all of them in your Add Comics screen now. Or better yet, browse them all using the Add screen’s Pull List tab!
It has been a while since we had the chance to sit down and work on the CLZ Movies app for a longer stretch. That is, doing improvements that are specific to movies and DVD/Blu-ray/4K releases. In fact, the project took much longer than anticipated, as new ideas for improvements kept popping while we worked on it. And we decided to just let that happen and create the best version of the app that we could think of right now.
Today, we can finally show you this huge v9.0 update for your CLZ Movies mobile app. Here’s what’s new:
- Improved Add Movies / Add by Title screen
- Collection tabs: easily switch between collections using tabs at the bottom
- New: tap an actor name in details to show all your movies with that actor
- Better screens for reporting “unrecognized barcodes” and adding those movies anyway
- When adding Box Sets, the app now automatically asks “Singly Entry or Multiple Entries?”
- Many new icons for digital and streaming formats
This is CLZ Alwin, with the very first CLZ Newsletter for 2024.
We started off with a bang, with the introduction of our new “Club CLZ” support forum. This is now THE place-to-be to get support for the software, the apps and our Core online databases.
Read on below for full Club CLZ info and sign up instructions.
As for software releases, we did two big updates for Connect. No updates for the mobile apps yet, as the mobile dev team is still working on the upcoming huge 9.0 update for CLZ Movies. Taking a bit longer than planned, mainly because we decided to add more improvements than originally planned. Full details below.
The Core content team is as busy as usual, with all the weekly new releases, plus our ongoing project of checking and improving all video game cover images in Core.

It is Wednesday again, always the craziest day at the CLZ HQ. We always try to prepare as many releases up front, which works pretty well for DC, but then lots of variants and exclusives are only revealed on NCBD itself, so that is a challenge each and every week.
This week, we see only 177 actual unique new issues, but because of all the variants, the total number of releases comes at 441! All available in your Add Comics screen now.
Thanks to our translator Frank Silas Kesia Jensen, the Connect web-based software is now available in Danish!

Looks like the slow weeks are over, as today’s NCBD brings us 506 new releases, for a total of 234 actual new unique issues.
The full content team has been working hard to add them all to Core and to complete all entries with as much details as possible. We just finished and you can now find them all in your trusted Add Comics screen.
Thanks to our translators Fernando Carvalho, Milan Sobat and Brano Mazari, the Connect web-based software is now available in 3 extra languages: Portuguese, Serbian and Slovak!
Thanks guys!

Wednesday means: New Comics! Looking at our list by release date, we’re seeing 347 new releases today. Not counting variants, the total comes at 155 new unique issues.
Rowdy called in sick today, so completing all of today’s releases was up to Justin and Taco. But the work was just completed. All 347 new releases are now listed in Core, with the actual cover art, variant descriptions, creator information, etc..
A huge update for your CLZ Movies mobile app is coming up, probably next week. Here’s a sneak preview of all the new features and improvements:
- Improved Add Movies screen: big cover images for 4K/Blu-ray/DVD releases
- Collection tabs: easily switch between collections using tabs at the bottom
- New: tap an actor name in details to show all your movies with that actor
- Better screens for reporting “unrecognized barcodes” and adding them anyway
- Many new icons for digital and streaming formats
New Check Value screen – quickly check CovrPrice values without having to add the comic to your database first
Up until today, the CovrPrice integration has been all about getting values for the comics in your collection. Super useful of course, but… since launch (back in October 2022), a common question from CovrPrice subscribers has been:
“How can I quickly check the value of a comic that is not in my collection?”
And they’re right. There’s other situations in which you may want to check a comic’s actual value, e.g. when you are looking at a comic you may want to buy.
Until now, our recommendation has always been: “Either use the CovrPrice.com website, OR, create a “Temp” collection in your app and add the comic there so that you can see the value”.
But not anymore! Your Comic Connect software now includes a new “Check Value” screen, that lets you quickly check a value of a comic, either by scanning its barcode, or by using the super-fast issue search. Just set it to Raw or Slabbed, pick a grade and go!
Yep, your favorite (and most expensive?) day of the week again: New Comic Book Day. Lots of opportunities to spend more money today, with 172 new issues and a total 389 new releases when counting all variants.
Rowdy, Justin and Taco just finished adding all 389 new releases to our Core online comic database. All entries have been made as complete as possible, with the actual cover art, variant descriptions, creator information (with correct Cover Artists listed for all variants), etc.. etc…
