News & updates

We’re in the middle of the vacation period here at the CLZ HQ, so progress is a bit slower than usual. However, we were still able to push out nice new versions of all desktop editions this month. And with everyone back at the office soon, there’s more to come next month!
Read on for details:

  • Now live for Windows: New Excel-style “Freeze Columns” feature.
  • Now live for Mac OS X: Better performance & stability / Full Screen mode.
  • Coming up next month:
    • FineDiner, restaurant journal app for the real foodies among us.
    • New User Defined Fields system for all Mac editions.
    • Music Collector for Mac: Music file cataloging + iTunes importing.
    • Connect 2.0, a new look and feel for all Connect editions.

Live for Windows: New Excel-style “Freeze Columns” feature

Early this month, we released five updates for all five Windows edition, all versioned “Cobalt.6.1”, introducing our new “Freeze Columns” feature for the main collection list.

Frozen columns stay in place when you scroll the list horizontally. This is especially useful if you use many columns in your list and want to keep the main identifying fields always in view, e.g. title and year for movies, the artist and title for music, author and title for books, series and issue number for comics, platform and title for games.

If you have a valid, non-expired Update Plan, you can update to Cobalt.6.1 by just using “Check for Update” from the “Help” menu, then clicking “Update Now!”.

Live for Mac OS X: Better performance & stability / Full Screen mode

This month we have released updates of all Mac editions that fix multiple stability and performance issues. I strongly recommend ALL users of our Mac editions to update to the latest Cobalt version ASAP, because this will prevent problems with your software!

On top of that, the new Cobalt releases add the new Full Screen mode, plus a faster way to add artists, authors, actors, etc… to your collection entries.

If you have a valid, non-expired Update Plan, you can update to this new version by just using “Check for Update” from the program’s menu, then clicking “Update Now”.

Coming up next month:

FineDiner, restaurant journal app for the real foodies among us

As you may know, a large part of the CLZ team has been working on a completely new CLZ project, designed for the fine dining enthusiasts among you: FineDiner for iOS, a diary app for gourmets/foodies to keep track of their visits to fine-dining restaurants.

The app is almost finished now and will go live in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands within a few weeks.

New User Defined Fields system for all Mac editions

Our new unlimited User Defined Fields (UDF) system is a big success on Windows, as it lets you create your own data fields, of any type, in any order and as many as you want. So next up is Mac OS X. Ronald is currently implementing the UDF system for Mac and is making good progress. Should be live before the end of August!

Music Collector for Mac: Music file cataloging + iTunes importing

Another Mac project, being worked on by Patrick, for Music Collector:
The ability to automatically catalog your music files by either scanning your hard-disk or by importing from iTunes.
ETA: also before the end of August.

Connect 2.0, a new look and feel for all Connect editions

Last but not least, our full re-design of the Connect web-applications.
Our new web-developer Dion is on this one, a fully responsive and flat-design make-over of Connect. Faster, better looking, and offering full editing capabilities in the mobile Connect website!
Dion is currently finalizing all five Connect editions and the public Connect pages. We are hoping it will all be ready to go live in about 4 to 6 weeks.
