Collectorz.com Newsletter June 2012

This is Alwin, with the Collectorz.com Newsletter for June 2012.

As you may know, I am a gamer and I am the proud owner of 535 games.
(check my game collection on Connect)
So I am happy that today I can announce we’re going to bring a major upgrade for my favorite Collectorz.com program: Game Collector 5.

Next to that, I want to introduce those of you who haven’t read about it yet, to a new project: Collectorz.com Core.
We’ve been working on Core for many months now and we’ll probably keep evolving and perfecting it for many years to come, it’s that important!

Also, in this newsletter:

  • Mac editions / Music Collector 10 for Mac is live
  • CLZ Comics 2.0 for iOS is getting closer

Introducing Collectorz.com Core

Collectorz.com CoreSo what’s this Core project about?
Core is a new system that lets all Collectorz.com users help with improving the quality and completeness of our central online databases (the source of all data and images that you get when using your Add Automatically screen).

Core will replace the current “Submit to Collectorz.com” system. But Core is more than that, as it also lets you report data errors, missing entries and missing barcodes. Read the full story about Collectorz.com Core here:

Collectorz.com Blog: Introducing Core

The book edition of Collectorz.com Core is live now and fully integrated in the recent 8.1 release of Book Collector for Windows.
Some eager Book Collector users have already sent in thousands of new ISBNs with full book data, plus thousands of correction for existing entries.

Thanks guys and gals! Please keep your Core reports coming! (our content managers have of course processed all reports into the central book database, ready to be enjoyed by all Book Collector users!)

Haven’t used Core for Books yet? Then check out this blog post for more information, then start sending us your new books and error reports!

Robbert is currently working on the Music edition of Core. Coming soon…

Game Collector 5 for Windows (and for Mac!)

Game Collector 5 for WindowsGreat news for all Game Collector users!

But.. I hear some of you scream : What about a Mac edition !!!?????

Well, with all updates of our existing Mac products alive and kicking, it only makes sense that we finally take on the final Mac project:
Game Collector 5 for Mac OS X. It will take a while though. ETA: Q4 2012.

Mac editions / Music Collector 10 for Mac is live

Music Collector V10 for MacTalking about Mac editions… this month we completed a huge project:

  • Completely rewriting all our Mac OS X programs, to make their interface more Mac-like and to add many new features and enhancements (and in the meantime bring Comic Collector to the Mac too).

Because on June 12, we finally released the 4th program based on our new Mac OS X software “framework”: Music Collector 10!
Read the full What’s New to find out about all the new and updated features.

After the release, we learned that the first build of v10 for Mac turned out to be a bit slow for some users. Of course Ronald immediately started investigating the performance issues, fixed them, and was able the release a fast fix within a week. Thanks for reporting this to us!

The good news is that these performance improvements will also make the other Mac programs faster, so expect some nice updates of Movie, Book and Comic Collector for Mac OS X in the upcoming weeks.

CLZ Comics 2.0 for iOS is getting closer

With all 4 major Mac OS X releases completed, it’s time to shift our iOS 2.0 project into the next gear.
For the next few months, Patrick will join Pim on the big one:

  • Adding/editing and barcode scanning capabilities for the iOS apps, plus at the
same time, merging our 10 iPhone and iPad apps into 5 universal iOS binaries.

First one up: CLZ Comics 2.0!
We even have a very tentative ETA for CLZ Comics: Early August 2012.

That’s all for today. More news next month and of course, on Facebook.
