Connecting the dots

Jan 26, 2012

Alwin here, with the first Collectorz.com Newsletter in 2012.

2011 was a great year for Collectorz.com:
Three big software updates for Windows, major upgrades for two of the Mac versions and continuing improvements to the “Connect” online editions.
We have made big leaps in the quality and coverage of our online databases, and of course, there was the release of a new mobile product: CLZ Barry.

For 2012, we’ll continue our focus on the Mac editions (neglected for too long)
and we’ll bring you big updates for the mobile apps. Later this year, if we
can pull Ronald away from his Mac, 2 upgrades for Windows (Music and Game).
And of course, work on Connect and the online databases will steadily continue.

But most importantly, 2012 will be the year in which we “connect the dots”.
We’ll be connecting our 3 software editions (desktop, mobile and online),
so that all 3 can talk to each other and sync data back and forth.

Here’s the first step in that, admittedly, ambitious project:

Add, edit and barcode scan functionality in the CLZ mobile apps

Yes, it really is going to happen:
Adding, editing and barcode scanning functionality in the CLZ mobile apps.

Pim, our mobile app developer, is currently implementing these features for the
CLZ Comics HD app for iPad and today, we’re able to show you the first screens:

Add, edit & scan barcodes in the mobile apps

The Mac OS X projects

First, Movie Collector 8 for Mac is finally live! (released on December 27).
In the meantime, it has already received a number of updates, to fix some
nasty “point-oh” problems that were reported by you all. Thanks!
Most Movie Collector for Mac users have already jumped to v8. Which only makes
sense if you look at the full what’s new list

Also, we released a nice update of Comic Collector for Mac (v5.2), introducing
the Backdrops feature, the new toolbar and the Field Defaults screen.
Screen shots are here.

So what’s up next?

This is: Work on Book Collector 8 for Mac has started.

You’ll hear from me again near the end of February.
(or earlier if you’re on Facebook)
