Three weeks ago, we did a huge “more compact design” update. Today, we are continuing with another update that improves the design, layout and performance of your movie details panel.
Here’s what has changed:
- Flexible layout: the layout now fully adapts to the width of your details panel.
- Fields moved: we moved some fields around, to make sure the most important fields are at the top. For example, the Index field has been moved down to the “Personal” block.
- New Format icons: format icons are now available for a lot more formats and are now displayed on a white background to make them stand out more.
- Youtube trailers: trailer videos now show up as a video thumbnails that links to the video on the Youtube site. No more embedded videos, as these often did not work (embed not allowed) and made the details panel load very slow.
- Faster loading: the details panel now loads much faster, as it now delays the loading of the backdrop and because the trailer video is not embedded anymore
Flexible layout
The layout of the movie details area, now fully adapts to the width of your details panel, whether you have it “low and wide” at the bottom of your screen, or “high and narrow” on the right side, or everything in between. All data is in “blocks” that fill the available space as efficiently as possible.
New Format icons
CLZ Movies automatically recognizes the most popular format names (like “DVD”, “Blu-Ray, “HD-DVD”, “4K”, “HD-DVD”, etc…) and then automatically shows a nice format icon. When it does not recognize the format name, it just shows the name in text (which of course is not as nice looking).
So to give you a nice icon for more (most?) of your movies, we added a lot more format icons, for the following popular digital, streaming and other formats:
- Amazon Prime Video
- Apple TV
- YouTube/Google (they’re merging their video service)
- VCD
- DVDR
- CD
- Hulu
- VUDU/Fandango (these services have merged)
- Roku
- Microsoft Movies & TV
- Movies Anywhere
- Netflix
- Disney+
- Plex
- Files
- Divx
- UltraViolet
- Shudder
- Tubi
- ESPN+
- Freevee
- MGM+
- Crackle
- HBO/HBO Max/Max
- Discovery+
- Crunchyroll
- Peacock
- The CW
- AMC+
