A big update for the CLZ Books Web web-based software, with several new data fields requested by our users through the years:
- Reading history: track multiple reading sessions, with their own Start and End Date, Status (Reading/Finished/Dropped), Progress (134 of 718 pages) and Reader name
- Automation settings for starting or finishing Reading event
- Reading History statistics to see how many books you or others in your family have read (and more)
- More book dimension fields: Spine Thickness and Weight, both now automatically delivered from Core for many books
- Next to Book Condition, a new field for the Dust Cover Condition
- Place of Publication, plus Original Place of Publication
Reading History
Track if and when you have read a book, reading a book, or dropped a book and by whom! You can add multiple reading history events, so that you can keep a nice reading history for each book.
Tip: use the folder feature to group by Reader, Reading Status, Reading Year, Reading Month, or Reading Date to get a nice overview of which books you or someone else in your family is reading, has read or dropped, for each period.
Use the new Sort Option “Last Read” to sort your books by the last date you read them.

These help you keep your Reading History up to date without having to think about it every time.
Automation settings for starting or finishing Reading event
We’ve added smart automation settings for when you start or finish a reading event:

Open the menu and go to Settings to find them!
You can set this up precisely to what you like CLZ Books Web to do when adding a new Reading event, or when you set one to Finished. For example, you can let it auto-fill an end date when you set a reading event to “Finished”.
Reading History statistics
Check out the new Reading Statistics section under Statistics to find:
- A “Books Read” pie chart, showing your Read/Not Read books.
- A “Most recently read” top list, showing the books someone most recently read.
- A “Books Read Per Year” bar chart, showing books ready per year, and by whom.
- A “Read Totals” bar chart, showing how many books you and others in your family has read.

More book dimension fields: Spine Thickness and Weight
Two new dimension fields for you and we also provide them via Core.
Use Update from Core (they’re all under “Dimensions”) to download them for your existing books, and for new books you should get them automatically (if we have them in Core).
You can change the unit of measurement in the Settings for these fields by the way, too 🙂
Dust Cover Condition
Next to the regular Book Condition, there is now a separate field for the Dust Cover Condition. This is great for collectors who care about the state of the dust jacket. You can now keep track of a near mint book with a slightly worn dust cover, or the other way around, without having to choose one overall condition.
Place of Publication and Original Place of Publication
These helps you keep track of where a specific edition was published, and where the book originally came from. Very useful for translated works, reprints or international editions.
CLZ Books Mobile app
Mobile developers CLZ Pim and CLZ Bernard are joining in the fun, to create a big CLZ Books 10.5 update for the mobile apps, bringing the same new field set.
